Nomos Thought(s)

Mostly migration - people on the move in Southeast Asia. Jams and photography, too. Curated by SLA on the Thai-Burma border.

Fikret Kizilok: ‘Yagmur Olsam,’ originally from the 1970 LP Yagmur Olsam / Yumma Gözün Kör Gibi.

I first stumbled on FK’s music thanks to the International Sad Hits compilation from Damon and Naomi, who were both formerly of Galaxie 500 before they pursued their collaboration as a duo, and apparently did some pretty solid curating of global music on the side.

The self-titled LP that I have from FK is available on Dusty Groove America (e.g. - or used to be, as I can’t find the record on there now), home of much awesomeness when it comes to rarely heard music from around the world. A Turkish grad student friend of mine once told me FK has achieved sort of cliched status in Turkey, which is why I’m thankful Thailand is not Turkey.
